Manual attendance

Result in several data capturing mistakes

Difficult to read some student numbers (need to verify the

student number on a separate class list)



Electronic attendance

–

Once all components (cards, proximity enabled reader,

attendance-taking system and dashboard) are linked/used

correctly - system becomes easy to use & attendance process

more efficient



Attendance patterns detected by the electronic attendance

system:

–

Classes later during the day and especially around 16h30 tend to

have less students (students need to get to taxi/train)

–

Attendance is also influenced by the actual lecturer

–

Once students realised that attendance is monitored, they tend to

attend more regularly

–

Time stamp indicate whether classes start and stop on time
